We had this lovely greek-style roast lamb leftovers in our fridge. And I had a hankering for pizza. So I decided to try something different to our regular pizza night featuring our kids favourite ham and pineapple pizza.

Mister Farmer delivered the lambs for our Delivery Run 1 to our local processors yesterday morning.
Our processor commented that our lambs were the best condition lambs that he had seen at his processing facility for sometime.

Our sheep and lambs live in open paddocks in our rugged grazing country on our farm at Rockleigh in the Adelaide Hills. They graze in generous size paddocks. On our quality pastures. It is warm country where the pastures continue growing over winter and our sheep and lambs do well over the winter months.

We had a wonderful morning at our Spring Lamb Launch at the Adelaide Hills Farmers Market yesterday.

So many big smiles seeing Rambo the lamb visting the market. And seeing eyes light up by many little kids who were loving getting on our our Spring Lamb Stickers to go on their shirt. It was a really fun morning!

Our little kids play area was very popular. With many little ones coming along to play with our farm animals and playdough. A few parents commented on how lovely and soft our playdough was, so I thought I would share my recipe here.

For many years I worked as a kindy teacher. One of my colleagues shared her tips on getting a super soft and pliable playdough everytime. It has the texture of “hubba bubba”.

This morning I share with you a lovely recipe from my Mum, which she cooked with our farms Grass Fed Spring Lamb.

I was asked “What is that?” by a Mum at school drop off last week. When I mentioned that our farm is at Rockleigh. We had started a little business selling our beef by quarters or halves, farm direct 9 months ago.

Good question. What is that! You are not the first to ask. And I am confident not the first to think it, but not ask. So here is our run down on “What is a Quarter of Beef?” Straight from me, Farmers wife, Mum of two kids. You can call me Misses Farmer.

Today I take you for a sneak peek into a new Adelaide Hills Air BNB, The Harriette. This lovely little AirBNB is located in the little town of Lobethal, in the heart of the Adelaide Hills.

I always had a dream of owning a BNB. And so I was delighted when Carol welcomed me into her sweet little AirBNB here in the Adelaide Hills.

Walking into The Harriette was like stepping into a Country Style Magazine. Beautiful curated, comfortable. Just a peaceful place that made me give an outward sigh of calm when I stepped over the threshold.

I am new at cooking beef ribs. I’m not quite sure why.

But it is just not really a cut that I have ever really had experience in cooking. However I did know enough about ribs, to know they need to be cooked low and slow.

Our fridge and pantry supplies where on the run down. So I just tried to create a sticky and tender beef rib dish (like I had seen on a telly cooking show before) with what I had on hand.

These delicious beef ribs is definitely going on our family meal rotation. Soo good! So tender! So sticky! So delicious!

The story of Dolly hits hard for me as a Mum.

Our children are approaching the age that Dolly took her own life due to cyber bullying. 14 is just too young. Heartbreaking.

In many ways, the approaching time of our children moving into the online world feels like we are flying down the freeway towards the toll gate with no brakes.

Over the past month or so, I have noticed an interesting connection developing in a paddock when doing the school run drive.

I’ll take you back about two months. I noticed a new mob of goats in a hilly paddock surrounding a dam with lots of blackberry. I guessed the goats had arrived to help clear out this noxious weed.

About two weeks later I noticed one caramel goat, with light caramel markings around the chin, ears and tail; out on the road. It jumped the fence and ran off.

We have been farming for 5 generations and just begun selling our farm direct grass fed beef and lamb to customers in Spring 2023.

I love delivery days! It is so wonderful to meet your in person! I love hearing about your stories of childhoods growing up on farms or visiting farms in your childhood and youth. And the memories you hold dear of these experiences of farm life.

I also love receiving your emails and messages with photos letting us know about the grass fed meat from our farm that you have unboxed and enjoyed sharing as a family.

So I thought I would share what our customers love about our grass fed beef and lamb through some of these wonderful photos, emails and messages with you too!

Recently I have begun playing with sourdough again.

Last year I had a sourdough starter going and tried a few recipes. However I neglected it and it ended up in the chook bin.

However I have got a new sourdough starter cranking along.

Our family is an outdoor family and tries the best we can to get our kids outdoors and playing, experiencing real life in a screen limited way.

However, Bluey at 8am on Saturday and Sunday mornings is our family show.  We have pancakes or waffles on Saturday morning; and bacon and eggs on Sunday morning and then at 8am, it’s Bluey time.

We have begun this special time as a family, as Mister Farmer is usually still working when we have tea and often not home until after bedtime (especially in busy seasons on the farm).

So, spending time together each weekend morning, over a lovely breakfast is an important time of connection for our family.

And so, that is why Bluey has found a special place in our families’ heart.

And oh man, it is often just so jolly funny!
