Want to support and connect with local farmers?
Let us nourish your family with our grass fed beef and lamb.
While you are working in your garden growing and kitchen preserving, we are working on our farm growing grass fed beef. Our Grass Fed Beef pairs perfectly with your own home grown fruits, veggies, eggs and produce.
Our family enjoys our own beef sausages cooked over the campfire in the paddock, or on the BBQ at home. A lamb roast, cooked on a bed of rosemary picked from our own garden. A favourite with our kids is shredded beef served with mexican burittos.
We are proud to offer our farms beef and lamb direct to customers through our shop front on Farmer to Fridge. Delivered direct to your doorstep by refrigerated transport, by me, Misses Farmer. We deliver to Adelaide Hills and Adelaide Metro.
Here are the beef and lamb products we sell from our farm.
Our Story
Our Adelaide Hills family farm produces high quality beef and prime lamb. At Peppermint Ridge Farm Co, we breed our own Black Angus cattle and White Suffolk cross bred lambs. We have selected these breeds for the quality of beef and lamb they produce, with our goal being excellent eating quality.
Our sheep and cattle graze on quality pastures in peaceful paddocks among the Peppermint Gums, rocky out crops and natural creek lines.
We are 5th Generation family farmers. We are kind to our animals and land by choosing sustainable and healthy stocking rates. Our sheep and cattle are bred on our farm, raised on quality Rockleigh pastures, and transported a short distance to our nearby processing partner.
Our animals
We run a small 27 cow herd of Black Angus cattle. Peppermint Ridge Farm Co cows are bred, born and raised on our Rockleigh farm in the Adelaide Hills.
Our flock of Merino ewes breed White Suffolk cross bred lambs. Lambs are born on our farm in late autumn, grow up with Mum and graze on our lush winter pastures. Through to growing to prime spring lamb in spring and early summer.
Our sheep and cattle graze on pastures in our rocky, rugged Rockleigh paddocks. Rockleigh is “warm country” with our animals thriving in a warm winter. We are kind to our animals and land by choosing sustainable and low stocking rates. Our farm is in a peaceful location away from busy freeways or highways. Our animals are free of routine antibiotics and growth hormones.
Our sheep and cattle are primarily grazed on our quality Rockleigh pastures. Spring and summer seasonal changes see our pastures change from green to golden. Feed stocks in our pastures will reduce overtime, waiting for autumn breaking rains to bring pastures back to green. To ensure the health of our animals and sufficient feed, there may be some supplementary feeding.
Our farm, land and animals are much loved by our family and our sheep and cattle are raised with kindness and care.
We choose low-stress handling practices of our animals. For their wellbeing, as well as improved eating quality.
Our animals are raised with the best practice animal husbandry, to ensure the optimal health and quality of life for our animals.
Our farm
Our farm is located at Rockleigh in the Adelaide Hills. As the name suggests, Rockleigh is a place of rugged beauty. Rockleigh is a hilly place, with large rocky outcrops, an abundance of mossy rocks, great and graceful gums and farming land with a mix of grazing and cropping use. There is an active Uniting Church, CFS station, and Old Rockleigh School House. The Rockleigh community organise and run the annual Carols in the Bush in late November featuring an outdoor carols event attended by over 300 people, next to the beautiful stone church, hosted by the South Australian Police Band and a good old fashioned country supper is provided for guests. The local CFS (Country Fire Service) is supported by local volunteers to protect the community from bushfires and manage other emergencies. The Old Rockleigh School House is used by travellers on the Kidman Trail by horse or bike, staying overnight with their horses before continuing on the next leg of their journey. The Talbot Reserve is highly regarded by twitchers for bird watching seasonally.
Our farm at Rockleigh features hilly paddocks, rocky outcrops, natural creeklines, native woodlands, flora and fauna. We frequently see kangaroos, a wonderful array of bird life, wedge tail eagles, sleepy and blue tongue lizards, brown snakes and our resident goanna. We also love the gum blossom, wattle and native orchards which signal changes in season.
Our sheep and cattle graze on quality pastures in peaceful paddocks among the Peppermint Gums, rocky out crops and natural creek lines.
Our farms water supply is by rainfall, dams and bore water. Mains water is not connected to Rockleigh. Which is quite amazing, given that we could see the flooded Murray River near Mannum from one of our hill tops during the recent floods.

Whole Animal Sale Model
Customers can purchase our beef and lamb boxes as a share of a whole animal.
We call this the “whole animal sale” model.
What this means, is that our cows and sheep will continue munching on our delicious pastures until we have made a sale of a “whole animal” to customers.
Cows and Sheep will be booked for processing when a “whole animal” is pre-sold and pre-paid.
For example, the sale of a “whole animal” may be
• four customers each buy a ¼ of beef or
• two customers buying a ½ of lamb
• or many other possible combinations which equal up to the purchase of a “whole animal”.
Purchasing meat farm direct is a little different to purchasing meat from your local supermarket or butchers shop.
It is slow food.
There is time between your purchase and delivery. Time for the sale of the remainder of the shares of the animal, which you have purchased a share in. Time for the following processes need to occur; booking the animal for the next available processing time slot, processing, hanging time, butchering and packaging. These processes generally take a minimum of and four weeks, depending on seasonal demand for processing time slots. Then it is delivery day!
