Come see our SPRING LAMBS living a great life on our farm.

Come along and see our SPRING LAMBS living a great life on our farm.

Our sheep and lambs live in open paddocks in our rugged grazing country on our farm at Rockleigh in the Adelaide Hills. They graze in generous size paddocks. On our quality pastures. It is warm country where the pastures continue growing over winter and our sheep and lambs do well over the winter months.

Our Spring Lambs are cross-bred white suffolk lambs.

It is always intriging to me to look at their faces. There is so many unique features amongst the mob of lambs that has much genetically in common. I guess that is part of the the complexity and wonder of mother nature.

Last weekend we were out working as a family with our sheep and lambs. Getting them all in and drafted to get the ewes (Mum’s) ready for shearing.

Always best to go into the sheep yards with a bucket full of grace for yourself, the rest of the family, the enthusiastic sheep dog in training and the sheep. And the sheep work will all get done in all the time it needs to take.

A really good cup of coffee is also a good starting point.

As well as a good supply of snacks for the kiddlets in the ute.

This is all part of a sure fire plan for a days sheep work to be a success.

I talk with our kids about doing the “sheep dance” when working with sheep in the yards. You be in the opposite place to where you want the sheep to go. Following these dance steps generally gets a smooth run through the race.

Getting a mob of sheep on the run through the drafting race is a truly uplifting thing to watch.

Skilled stock dog handlers and stockmen/women have experience and skill which I admire and know I can learn a great deal from. The Muster Dogs shows are amazing examples of this in action.

This week Mister Farmer has made decisions about selling off the majority of our Spring Lambs from our farm. Due to seasonal conditions of reduced rainfall and reduced stock feed levels.

This is earlier than we would normally sell our Spring Lambs.

We have kept a limited number of Spring Lambs on our farm for you to enjoy direct from our farm.

Last year we sold and delivered Spring Lamb through to December. This will not be possible this year, due to the seasons weather conditions.

We will offer delivery in September (SOLD OUT) and October.

However we can not guarantee a November Delivery Run. This will be dependent on rainfall and stock feed levels, and our capacity to keep our Spring Lambs at good condition. Looking after our animals is always the most important thing to us.

Delivery Run 1 Spring Lamb deliveries will be in September. This delivery run is SOLD OUT.

Delivery Run 2 Spring Lamb Orders are open SHOP NOW. Orders Close Sunday 6th October, Midnight. Delivery will be in October.

Delivery Run 3 (uncertain if this will be offered in 2024.)

We look forward to seeing you at the Adelaide Hills Farmers Market tomorrow. It is truly a highlight of my week to come along to the Farmers Market and have such wonderful chats with such interesting people.

Love to you all, Misses Farmer X
