Take a sneak peek inside this cosy new Adelaide Hills AirBNB. Your next Winter Getaway.

Today I take you for a sneak peek into a new Adelaide Hills Air BNB, The Harriette. This lovely little AirBNB is located in the little town of Lobethal, in the heart of the Adelaide Hills.

I always had a dream of owning a BNB. And so I was delighted when Carol welcomed me into her sweet little AirBNB here in the Adelaide Hills.

Walking into The Harriette was like stepping into a Country Style Magazine. Beautifully curated, comfortable. Just a peaceful place that made me give an outward sigh of calm when I stepped over the threshold.

Carol and her partner put many years of renovators grit turning this formerly unpolished diamond into a true gem. It needed a lot of love when they purchased this property 6 years ago.

The Harriette only opened 5 months ago and has been fully booked through AirBNB ever since. They have had many guests attend weddings at the local Goldings Wines. They have recently farewelled guests from Amsterdam from a 10 night stay. The Harriette has bookings through until April 2025.

The Harriette is a sweet two bedroom cottage with two living areas, full kitchen, butlers pantry (including laundry), bathroom with luxury bath, a beautiful backyard boasting two undercover outdoor entertaining areas. It is a full luxury getaway package.

The Harriette is nearby the former Onkaparinga Woollen Mills in Lobethal. The row of cottages that the Harriette is a part of was formerly one the managers cottages from the Onkaparinga Woollen Mills. Carol took inspiration from the 1920’s when naming their sweet little cottage, as that was when the cottage was built. This is what peeked my interest in The Harriette. I noticed a post on their Instagram, which mentioned the historical links with The Harriette and the Onkaparinga Woollen Mills. I noticed how Carol had thoughtfully incorporated wool blankets into the Autumn and Winter decor to keep guests cosy during their stay during an Adelaide Hills winter.

We are wool growers. Growing fine merino wool on our Rockleigh farm. So The Harriette’s connection with the history of the local Onkaparinga Woollen Mills has a real heartfelt resonance.

As fine wool growers, it is wonderful to hear of the history of the Onkaparinga Woolen Mills. I recall sleeping under woolen Onkaparinga blankets in vibrant 70’s colours as a child. I wish that the local wool mill was still running locally and we could see our wool being made in to beautiful woollen blankets. To see families snuggle up on cold Adelaide Hills winter nights.

Carol told me of her many shopping adventures to intentionally choose the fine arts, ceramics, antique furniture and furnishings which make The Harriette feel like a truly special getaway. More than a stay in a hotel room. The Harriette feels like a luxury home filled with treasures of times gone by. And I think that is what is so special about The Harriette. It feels like a cosy home away from home, here in the Adelaide Hills.

True luxury is what Carol wanted guests staying at The Harriette. This is 100% what guests experience here.

What I love about The Harriette is that it feels cosy. I love the fluffy monogramed robes. I love how it feels warm and luxurious. I love the idea of waking up in the beautiful bedrooms from a restful nights sleep. I completely love the laundry in the butlers pantry, this is my dream kitchen/laundry combo! I love the oak hutch and the wood fire in the snug. I love the forest green in the green room, I love the colour, the velvet couch and how it just feels like a place to sink deep into the couch and read a good book in front of the fire. I love the deep bath. I love the bathroom sink that came all the way from Morocco. I love the covered outdoor entertaining areas. I love the Pierre de Ronsard and other beautiful roses blooming in the garden. I love “The Harriette” sign at the front door. I love the story of The Harriette and it’s connection to the historical Onkaparinga Woollen Mills locally in Lobethal.
